Pandemic Box
A percussive Instrument with five signal chains.
Stuck in lockdown I stumbled across a video of the Apprehension Engine and was inspired to make own version. It is a spring box type of percussive instrument with five signal chains :1 thru an overhead mic
1 thru an internal piezo contact mic
1 thru an internal lavalier mic
1 thru a set up guitar pick ups installed in the box
and an external piezo based stomp box (used as a kick pedal)
Each signal chain has its own unique set of pedals, so I am able to produce a wide (and often unpredicable ) range of sounds.
The box is constructed of walnut and everything on it was purchased in a hardware store or found on the street.
During the pandemic lockdown I stumbled across a video of "The Apprehension Engine" and decided I would try and make a version for myself. Mine became more percussive because I like hitting things :)
